A Charity Near to My Heart: NephCure
A few years ago, I went to a St. Jude charity event and I met this little boy named Mathew Levine. I don't have a son, and he just touched my heart. I found out he had a rare kidney disease and I couldn't believe it. He had just turned 8 and his cholesterol is 365, he takes 15 pills a day.
I'm so blessed that my daughters are healthy. I could never imagine what Matthew, his mother Dana and sister Sydney go through everyday. I wanted to do whatever I could to help them. When Celebrity Apprentice asked me to be on the show, I knew the NephCure Foundation was the charity I wanted to play for. We raised $70,000 for NephCure on the show, but I'm in this for life. I will go anywhere at any time to raise awareness and funds to help find a cure for Matthew and others with FSGS [focal segmental glomerulosclerosis] and nephrotic syndrome. I want to help find a cure for these two devastating kidney diseases that destroy kidney’s lives and families in its path.
I’m asking all my family, friends, and fans to please support a NephCure however you can. Thank you! xx
